This one was made for a buddy of mine, Jeff, who's an amazing musician and even better guy. The designs were inspired by the grain that was already there. Alder body, maple neck, with Fender hardware and tuners, Fender Tex Mex bridge pickup, Seymore Duncan Pearly Gates neck humbucker, CTS 250k pots, and Orange Drop cap.
This one was so much fun to see come to life and has spurred on so many other ideas. It's hard to play anything but honky-tonk on this one, but it sounds great doing just about anything. Alder body, Maple Fender neck, Fender Pure Vintage Tuners, Fender Tex Mex Pickups, Orange Drop Cap.
No doubt the owner renamed it something less cheesy. You can see the inspiration here, as the shape between the pickups vaguely resembles Darth Vader's Tie Fighter. This was a commissioned kit build, providing a more affordable option. Okoume body, Maple neck, Ebony fretboard.
I had an SG in high school, got rid of it, and have been kicking myself for that ever since, so I finally decided to make one as an experiment to see how a cedar body would hold up, and couldn't be happier with the end result. Cedar body, mounting rings, and headstock veneer, Indian Rosewood fretboard with resin inlay, Mahogany neck, Ox horn nut, Grover Sta-Tite tuners, TonePros bridge and tailpiece, Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB bridge and SH-1 '59 neck humbuckers, CTS 500k pots and Orange Drop caps
This one isn't a build so much as creative vandalism. I started it while working at an Appalachian Trail hostel in North Carolina, and completed it to sell as a fundraiser for hurricane relief for the area after it was devestated by Helene. This is an Orangewood Austin, with solid Spruce top and Mahogony sides.
